Activities available in the local area
Loch View cottage is centrally situated for walking, touring, climbing,
skiing and as such is an ideal base to explore this beautiful area.
There is plenty to see and do.......
Hill
and Forest walks, many of the famous Munro's are within easy
reach, including Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain.
Golf: several courses within easy reach including Traigh
Golf Course, said to be one of the most beautiful nine hole
golf course in the world.
Steam Train: The famous Jacobite
steam train runs between Fort William and Mallaig on six days
a week from June to September. This train, and the famous Glenfinnan
viaduct, is soon to be featured in Harry Potter's second movie released
late in 2002.
Cycling:
bikes can be hired in Fort William and there are numerous places
go to enjoy a day in the saddle. For bike hire, try Off

Fishing: loch, river and sea fishing are all within easy reach.

Skiing: the season usually runs from Christmas
to the end of April. There are two resorts within easy reach, Glencoe
and Nevis
Range which is located on Aonach Mhor, next to Ben Nevis.
Wildlife This area is a paradise for those
interested in wildlife and birdwatching. You are unlikely to stay
here and not see wild deer wandering around (watch out for them
on the roads at night!), and pine marten, badger, wild cats and
other small mammals are all resident here. All types of birds are
to be found, from the waders and sea birds which can be seen on
the loch opposite the cottage, to a wide variety of small garden
birds, and of course birds of prey, including buzzards, owls and
if you are lucky, the majestic golden eagle.

The
Fort William and Lochaber area is a beautiful area which boasts
some of the greatest natural scenery to be found anywhere in the
world, from the white sands of Morar to the quiet splendour on the
Arnamurchan Peninsular. A visit to the nearby Ardnamurchan Peninsula

The area has captured the hearts of locals, film producers and
writers alike, and
will also capture your's. Only 10 miles
away is the village of Glenfinnan, with its famous monument to Bonnie
Prince Charlie (see picture, right). Some 20 miles further along
the Road to the Isles there are the beautiful Silver Sands of Morar,
some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. For more information

You will without doubt return home with very fond memories of Loch
